Johann Zarco completes his last round with the Prima Pramac team in the MotoGP Valencian Grand Prix. The team has already secured the championship and is now in the fight for the rider’s title with Jorge Martín, where his teammate might have a say, despite not being directly involved.
The #5 admitted he will not be that nostalgic, being focused on his job: ‘Not too much, because I’m too much focused on what we have to do, try to perform. And straight away on Sunday evening we will change the box the next day and ride another bike on Tuesday. So there isn’t too much time to be nostalgic. And I’m pretty happy to have another challenge, to start a new chapter, turn the page’.
For this last race, Zarco has the podium in his mind, but he also knows he may have to help Martín with the title fight: ‘I would like to finish on the podium, this would be great for the finale in Valencia. It’s a great track. Back in Europe there are some cool temperatures, but we can control it well. It seems that in the afternoon it will be great to ride and we would love to perform a lot because it was frustrating to don’t be able to be on the top in Qatar. I think I’ve been thinking too much about this strategy for the team and I need to really try to do my best and maybe if we need strategy or think about Jorge’s title, I need to do it only on the last three laps if I need to take a decision. In Qatar I felt that it was blocking me a bit sometimes. At the end I did the best, but the 12th position doesn’t bring a lot of points’.
Asked whether he could receive a signal from the team to help Martín, the Frenchman replied: ‘Maybe yes. Anyway, there are things the team doesn’t need to tell me, I’m not like the other riders’.
