Enea Bastianini is one of the riders involved in one of the most significant decisions in the MotoGP rider market for 2025 – regarding the place on the Ducati factory team.
Currently occupying that seat, Bastianini is at the end of his contract, and there is much speculation. This Thursday, the Italian press reported that Jorge Martín (Prima Pramac/Ducati) has already been chosen.
While the Italian doesn’t hide his desire to stay where he is, he admitted that he can’t think about his plans if he doesn’t remain with Ducati: ‘It’s normal. I have the preference, but it’s early to talk about this. I’ll understand better that situation after Mugello, after Ducati’s decision. We have three weeks to understand what has to be my best choice. But for the moment I have to think about other things and I’ve to understand why my speed wasn’t good in Barcelona’.
And how is Bastianini handling all the commotion in the rider market? ‘It’s chaotic from the first race. It’s strange, but it’s not a problem. But sometimes you have to think about this and when I have to speak about the future, I think: «Again, again, again». It’s normal. All the riders are on the front: me, Marc and Jorge Martín, and we are on the top four of the riders’ standings’, he said.
That said, the current Ducati rider acknowledged that he is behind Márquez and Martín: ‘At the moment Jorge has something more compared to the other ones. We have seen many times. Marc is good on the race, he has the strongest first lap. I’m consistent, but not really explosive at the moment. Ducati’s choice can be difficult, I know, but after this race we have the result and we will be happy’.
