Jorge Prado returned to winning ways this Sunday in the MXGP World Championship, defeating Jeffrey Herlings in the MXGP of West Nusa Tenggara in Indonesia. The riders shared race wins and ended with the exact same points.
The first race began with Jeremy Seewer (Kawasaki) taking the holeshot, but Herlings (Red Bull KTM) moved into the lead in the first lap. Seewer dropped to fourth, overtaken by Prado (Red Bull GasGas) and Tim Gajser (Team HRC).
The top three positions remained unchanged. Herlings managed to build a solid gap as the race progressed, ultimately finishing ahead of Prado by a clear 10.164s. Gajser was third, 16.761s behind, followed by Calvin Vlaanderen and Andrea Bonacorsi (Monster Energy Yamaha) who overtook Seewer on the penultimate lap to secure fifth place.
In the second race, Herlings took the lead at the beginning, while Prado slipped to third with a slight mistake in the first lap, losing second place to Gajser. The defending champion recovered in the fourth lap when Herlings also lost position to Gajser.
Once in second, Prado set his sights on the lead, which he achieved in the sixth lap. From then on, the Spanish rider built a gap. Gajser, on the other hand, lost second place back to Herlings before a minor crash dropped him to fifth. In the final minutes, Prado had a lead of over ten seconds but ultimately won 5.367s ahead of Herlings. Seewer finished third, with Vlaanderen in fourth and Gajser in fifth.
In the MXGP of West Nusa Tenggara standings, Prado was declared the winner with 47 points, tied with Herlings. Vlaanderen, also with 36 points alongside Gajser, completed the podium, with Seewer just one point behind the top three in fifth place.
