Trackhouse is now officially a reality in MotoGP, with the announcement being made today as expected after Aprilia announced a special event taking place today on social media.
Justin Marks is the face of the project at the American company, and he didn’t hide his happiness at extending its activity to the category: ‘It’s a fantastic moment for our company. When Trackhouse started it was always going to be more than just a Nascar team, we wanted to create something special in motorsport, something that was globally relevant and with an American vibe. We had no borders, in ideas, creativity and geography, and this particular moment is a big one for our company. We’re looking forward to working with Dorna and Aprilia next year’.
Founder and CEO of Trackhouse, Marks explained how from an early age he was exposed to MotoGP at an iconic circuit: ‘I grew up in Northern California and had the opportunity to see the first races at Laguna Seca, they were the first major motorsport events I attended. You think of names like Rainey and Schwantz, Eddie Lawson, and Nicky Haiden was one of my first heroes. It’s humbling and empowering for Trackhouse to continue to be a part of American history in MotoGP racing’.
As for what got him started on this adventure, Marks clarified:
– I’m a student of the ‘game’ and I love all forms of motorsport and experience all motorsports events. I travelled to the Austrian GP this summerto see a GP in Europe, I’d never done that before. I wanted to see what the engagement of the fans was was, the action was like, and was completely blown away, it was something life changer Being an entrepreneur and a business owner, I started asking questions, learning about the series and Dorna, the manufacturers and riders, and understanding the business model. On the flight home I couldn’t help wondering what it would be like to join MotoGP. When communicating with Dorna and Aprilia: ‘This is something we want to do, here’s the concept of what we think we can bring. If there is such an opportunity we would love to pursue it and there it was’. Many thanks to Dorna, Ezpeleta, Aprilia and everyone else for the opportunity we’ve been presented with. Here we are.
