The title of Kalle Rovanperä in the World Rally Championship (WRC) is almost a done deal. It can be achieved in the Central European Rally this week, if the Toyota driver doesn’t lose more than two points to his teammate Elfyn Evans.
The Finnish driver emphasized that, after winning the constructors’ title, he is now focused on the drivers’ championship: ‘The constructors’ title is a great achievement for the whole team, and now we will make a big effort to fight for the drivers’ and co-drivers’ titles in these last races of the season. When the fight is between two teammates, it is always friendly and fair with the same cars, so it should be good’.
About the Central European Rally, Rovanperä expressed his enthusiasm for the type of roads he will encounter: ‘It’s good to return to asphalt with a rally car; in our test, I felt comfortable in the car immediately and hopefully it will be the same in the rally. I am very confident that it can be a good event for us: this type of rally on asphalt usually suits me best, and I have had some good results on these types of tracks’.
