Kay de Wolf emerged victorious in the MXGP of Sardinia MX2 qualifying race, kicking off the weekend on the right foot in the Riola Sardo category.
Rick Elzinga (Monster Energy Yamaha) made an impressive start and led at the end of the first lap, but de Wolf (Nestaan Husqvarna) wasted no time in attacking and completed the pass on the second lap.
From then on, no one could dethrone de Wolf from the lead, and the Dutch rider ultimately won with a 3.300s lead. Thibault Benistant (Monster Energy Yamaha) secured second place, making the pass on Elzinga on the fifth lap and holding onto the position until the end.
As for Elzinga, he held onto third place but lacked the pace to keep up with the top two: he crossed the finish line 21.657s behind the winner. Camden McLellan (Monster Energy Triumph) and Simon Lägenfelder (Red Bull GasGas) completed the top five.
