Kevin Zannoni has claimed his first win in the MotoE World Cup, triumphing in a thrilling second race of the Catalan GP in Barcelona this Saturday.
Mattia Casadei (LCR E-Team) got off to a strong start, taking the lead, while his teammate Eric Granado, who started from pole position, settled into third behind Zannoni (Openbank Aspar).
During the first lap, Granado moved up to second before challenging Casadei and taking the lead at the beginning of the second lap. Casadei then crashed in turn ten while in second place, promoting Óscar Gutiérrez (Axxis-MSi), the winner of the first race, to third place.
The battle for the lead ensued between Granado, Gutiérrez, and Zannoni until Granado also crashed in turn five with three laps to go.
Gutiérrez and Zannoni continued to duel for the lead, with the Italian launching a decisive attack in turn one on the final lap. Zannoni successfully defended his position, securing the victory and relegating Gutiérrez to second, which also allowed him to take the championship lead.
Alessandro Zaccone (Tech3 E-Racing) finished third, with Jordi Torres (Openbank Aspar) and Héctor Garzó (Dynavolt Intact GP) completing the top five.
