Chinese motorcycle manufacturer Kove is a very recent player in the sector, having entered the world market in 2022. However, its status as a newcomer to the industry has done little to affect the speed at which the brand has been launching new models. We’ve already talked about its 450 cc rally replica, and now Kove is venturing into the mid-cylinder ADV segment with the launch of its 800X Adventure.
The mid-range ADV segment has been gaining notoriety in recent years, partly due to the success of major brands such as the KTM 790 and 890 Adventure, the Yamaha Tenere 700 and the Aprilia Tuareg 660. Recently, brands such as Benelli and CFMOTO have unveiled their own interpretations of the ideal mid-displacement adventure machine. Now, Kove has done the same, following practically the same formula as its counterparts. The new 800X range of adventure bikes is particularly focused on off-roading, without forgetting the touring amenities that make an ADV bike.
At the heart of this new adventure bike is a liquid-cooled, fuel-injected 799cc twin-cylinder engine. It has a similar structure to the one found in the CFMOTO 800MT and, as such, also in the KTM 790 series of engines. On the Kove 800X Adventure, it produces a healthy 97.8 hp of power and 80 Nm of torque, and has a top speed of 210 km/h.
The suspension is made up of a long-travel system from the Chinese brand Yu-An, with 210 millimeters of travel and 245 millimeters of ground clearance. Like most adventure models, it has a combination of 21-18 rims and CST tires with off-road specifications. The brakes consist of two 310 mm double discs at the front and a single disc at the rear. Interestingly, the bike has a slipper clutch, two-channel ABS traction control and even a steering damper, all as standard.
From a styling point of view, the new Kove 800X Adventure has a clearly rally-inspired design, with LED lights, protection bars, an aluminum plate at the bottom of the fairing and a TFT color display.
In total, Kove offers three versions of the 800X Adventure – Standard, Pro and Rally. The Standard version has the specifications listed above, however, for riders looking for a mix of on- and off-road performance, there is the Kove 800X Adventure Pro. This more premium model offers adjustable KYB suspension with a slightly longer travel of 240 mm and an increased ground clearance of 275 mm. Meanwhile, the Rally version goes further, also with KYB suspension, but this time with 270 mm of travel at the front and 250 mm of travel at the rear. The ground clearance on the Rally version is an impressive 293 mm.
