With many spots still undecided for the 2025 MotoGP season, the rumor mill is churning. At KTM, only Brad Binder is fully confirmed, and one of the speculated names for the constructor is Marc Márquez. However, KTM Motorsports Director Pit Beirer does not consider this realistic and aims to keep Augusto Fernández, Jack Miller, and young talent Pedro Acosta.
Speaking to Motorsport-Magazin, the German clarified his intention to retain all four riders for the future: ‘Of course, we have two fantastic riders in Brad and Pedro, in whom we believe greatly and have much confidence for the future. My wish has not changed: I want to continue with our four riders’.
While acknowledging that Miller and Fernández have not shown ideal performance, Beirer emphasized that both have time to make progress at this stage:
– To be honest, Jack and Augusto’s performances are too short for a MotoGP spot, which is so valuable. We are in a phase where we still have time, but not much. Augusto and Jack do not need to take huge steps, but rather small steps forward to stabilize the package. There is movement in the rider market, and other names that sound very good approach us, and this makes you think.
Regarding Márquez specifically, the KTM director denied that he is an option: ‘Marc Márquez has been a hero for us in this sport since we competed in MotoGP. We have enormous respect for Marc. But I don’t think he is a realistic option for us. You have to consider the brutality that Marc has gone through. I spoke with him last summer, and his desire was simply to find a bike with which he knew he could be completely competitive. With this bike, he wanted to get back to the top, and he did. Therefore, I don’t see him changing brands, which would mean a completely new start for him. Marc is a brilliant rider, but I don’t think it is realistic for us to talk about his commitment’.
