Kyle Petty revealed that the past two weeks of racing have been incredibly beneficial for the sport in terms of gaining more attention. The 23XI Racing victory at Talladega on Sunday, taking advantage of a last-lap crash, was especially special for the team as it was witnessed by team owner Michael Jordan and featured a car sponsored by his Jumpman brand. Jordan, along with young son of Tyler Reddick, Beau, was featured in Victory Lane, celebrating the No. 45 Camry’s win as if it were the first of all time. Former NASCAR driver Petty emphasized the importance of these moments for the sport, noting that having an iconic figure like Jordan present in Victory Lane attracted a lot of media attention and brought a new focus to NASCAR. Petty expressed his gratitude to Jordan and Reddick for being the catalysts behind the increasing attention the sport is receiving. This is the second consecutive week that NASCAR’s PR team has had viral content to share and leverage due to race results. Petty recognizes that while last week’s win by the sport’s most popular driver was significant, Jordan’s presence in NASCAR is an even bigger moment. NASCAR has been fortunate to have Chase Elliott and Tyler Reddick as winners in the past two weekends, which helped divert attention from disappointing races. However, NASCAR must be aware that this level of excitement cannot be sustained every week and should address any issues with the Next-Gen cars.
