A Lancia and the Heritage department of Stellantis have announced that they have awarded the Certificate of Authenticity to the 1986 Lancia Delta 4WD owned by Massimo “Miki” Biasion, one of the most successful rally drivers of all time.
The Lancia Delta, in its various versions, dominated the world of motorsports from the late 1980s to the early 1990s, winning six world constructors’ championships, four drivers’ championships, and over 40 individual victories, confirming its position as the most successful rally car of all time. Thanks to the Delta, Lancia remains the most crowned brand in rally history, with fifteen World Rally Championships, three World Endurance Constructors’ Championships, one 1000 Miglia, two Targa Florio, and one Carrera Panamericana.
Miki Biasion is an important figure in Lancia’s motorsports history, thanks to his consecutive victories in the 1988 and 1989 World Rally Championships with the Martini Racing Delta team.
The certification now obtained verifies the authenticity of the vehicle and results from a thorough technical and historical examination carried out by the manufacturer. This process involves close collaboration between the Heritage and the Italian brand’s technicians to definitively establish the vehicle’s identity.
Owners of cars that successfully pass this examination receive detailed documentation, including the “Certificate of Authenticity,” the “Lancia Classiche” certification plate, and a dossier that encompasses the vehicle’s history, intervention criteria, and photographs of the evaluated components.
It should be noted that Lancia has already announced that it will only market 100% electric vehicles from 2028 and will launch three new models, one every two years, starting in 2024 with the new Ypsilon.
