The McLaren driver in Formula 1 stated that the sport will not see four or more teams competing for the top positions after the new regulations come into effect in 2026. The FIA has proposed a new set of rules that bring significant changes to the design and power of an F1 car.
The existing regulations were introduced in 2022 and witnessed a period of dominance from Red Bull, which surpassed most teams on the grid for nearly two years. However, starting from this season, the Milton Keynes team faced strong competition from McLaren and Ferrari, who have high hopes of winning the constructors’ championship.
However, Lando Norris believes that these competition standards among teams will decrease when the new regulations are introduced in 2026, as teams will need time to perfect their developments from scratch once again. The British driver also suggests that the regulations may have positive impacts on certain aspects of the sport while undermining others.
Norris has had an impressive season so far, securing a victory in Miami and achieving five podium finishes. The British driver will now rely on his team’s expertise to perform well in the championship during the upcoming races, with hopes of winning the championship this season.
The CEO of McLaren acknowledged that Norris had mixed feelings about being the driver with the most podiums but no wins. Norris won for the first time in his career in Miami, and Brown was quick to praise the fighting spirit of the 24-year-old.
