Mercedes presents itself at the United States Grand Prix with a new floor. According to Lewis Hamilton, it is one of the most significant upgrades of the season so far, hoping that it will be a step in the right direction.
In a press conference transcribed on the FIA website, #44 cautiously expressed optimism about the effect of this novelty introduced in the W14:
– Well, it was a huge amount of work at the factory. This is our last major upgrade, or the biggest of the big upgrades throughout the season, and I’m really excited to see how it is. All the fantastic people at the factory have worked incredibly hard throughout the season, and hopefully, this will be a needle tip and help us in the right direction of where we want to pursue next year. But I don’t know exactly all the different parts of the circuit where I will feel it. But hopefully, it will be a gradual improvement and put us a little closer to those who are in front.’
