Loris Veneman was the standout performer in the World Supersport 300 Championship at Most. Yesterday, the rider won the second race, securing both victories of the weekend. However, he was far from dominating on track.
Mirko Gennai (MTM Kawasaki) made a strong start, overtaking Iñigo Iglesias Bravo (Fusport-RT Motorsport by SKM-Kawasaki). Lead changes were constant throughout the race, but Bravo seemed to have the upper hand in the final stages.
With four laps to go, Gennai was one of four riders involved in a crash at turn one, including Jeffrey Buis (Freudenberg KTM-Paligo Racing). During the yellow flag period, Iglesias made an overtake, which led to a penalty position.
An intense battle for the lead between Veneman (MTM Kawasaki) and Iglesias marked the final lap, with Iglesias crossing the finish line first. However, due to the penalty imposed on him, he dropped to second place, and Veneman won by a tiny margin of 0.009s.
Third place went to Aldi Satya Mahendra (Team BrCorse), who edged out Bruno Ieraci (Team ProDina Kawasaki) by just 0.038s in another breathless battle. David Salvador (MS Racing/Yamaha) and Mirko Gaggi (Team BrCorse/Yamaha) were also involved, with Gaggi finishing just 76 thousandths of a second off the top three.
After what was the fourth round of the season, Bravo leads the championship with 19 more points than Mahendra. With the two victories, Veneman moved up to third place and is 23 points off the top.
