Honda’s results in MotoGP continue to be disappointing, as are their performances on track. However, this does not imply a lack of effort and commitment to improving the situation.
After five rounds, the best Honda rider is Joan Mir (Repsol Honda) in 18th place in the championship, with two 12th places as his best results. In the constructors’ championship, the Japanese manufacturer has only 17 points, while LCR Honda is tenth in the team standings with 15 points – just ahead of the factory Repsol Honda team, which has 12 points.
Despite the situation, Luca Marini – who has yet to score points – sees signs of improvement. The Italian told Nico Abad, as quoted by Motosan.es, that the RC213V is already very different from the one that started the preseason in February:
– Now, after the tests we did in Mugello and also in Barcelona, we found many interesting things. The bike has changed a lot from the first test in Malaysia until now. I try to give the best feedback possible, and by following our direction, we will surely end this season well and see what next year brings.
Marini is confident and dismisses any idea of leaving Honda at the end of 2024 – his contract is also valid for the 2025 season: ‘I have never been more certain of my relationship with Honda’, he emphasized.
