In the upcoming season, Luca Marini will compete in MotoGP for the Repsol Honda Team, departing from the Mooney VR46 team. Nevertheless, he will stay connected to the VR46 Riders Academy.
Uccio Salucci, one of the key figures in Valentino Rossi’s project, explained to GPOne.com: ‘His [Marini’s] management won’t change. Luca wants to stay with the Academy’.
With his move to the Repsol Honda Team, Marini will be the third rider developed within the VR46 Riders Academy to join a factory team, following Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati) and Franco Morbidelli (Yamaha). However, he is the first to leave Mooney VR46 for an official team.
