The Moto2 Catalan GP began with Manuel González breaking the circuit’s record lap in Barcelona. González was the fastest this morning in the intermediate category.
In the first eight minutes, seven different riders held the top position, which changed hands nine times… until Jake Dixon (CFMoto Inde Aspar/Kalex) secured the lead, keeping it for almost 30 minutes.
The British rider was eventually overtaken by Alonso López (MB Conveyors SpeedUp/Boscoscuro)… only for González (QJMotor Gresini/Kalex) to set a new record lap with a time of 1m42.860s.
No one could beat that time, leaving the Spanish rider in the lead, 0.182s ahead of López. Dixon was third, just 0.184s behind, followed by Joe Roberts (OnlyFans American Racing Team/Kalex) and Ai Ogura (MT Helmets-MSi/Boscoscuro) completing the top five. Championship leader Sergio García (MT Helmets-MSi/Boscoscuro) finished eighth, 0.614s off the pace.
