The arrival of Marc Márquez at Gresini and aboard a Ducati motorcycle is one of the major novelties of the MotoGP season. The rider moderates expectations at a time when he still needs to adapt to the Desmosedici GP23, but Michele Pirro – like many others – sees him as an immediate candidate for the podium.
The Italian told GPOne.com that he does not expect the six-time premier class champion to be clearly superior to the competition, but he has no doubt that he will regularly be in the fight for podiums:
– I believe that Marc will be able to be fast and competitive right from the first races, even fighting for podiums. He will no longer make an occasional appearance as he did last season and will be able to fight for top positions. It is obvious that it is still too early to say that he will give a second to everyone, that would be science fiction; our riders are as competitive as he is.
