Marco Bezzecchi continues to struggle to compete for top positions in this new MotoGP season. The Pertamina Enduro VR46 rider switched to the 2023 version of the Ducati and, after finishing 14th in Qatar, could only manage sixth place in the Portuguese GP.
After the race, the Italian revealed to the press that braking straight has improved. However, he admitted that there are still areas where he lacks and that with a decrease in grip, he was able to achieve better lap times:
– I’m still missing the entry part, but especially the turning point, mid-corner. I’m slower compared to the other riders in that area. I’m still struggling to be able to make the bike turn. But as soon as the grip dropped a little bit I was able to make better lap times compared to the beginning, so it was quite strange.
Despite considering that there were improvements in Portimão, Bezzecchi emphasized that it is still not enough: ‘Overall, compared to Sepang and Doha, we improved a lot. But we are still a bit too far from the top guys. So we need to continue working in this way and try to continue improving’.
