Despite being the priority of Aprilia, Maverick Viñales decided to leave the Noale manufacturer and take on the KTM challenge, on GASGAS Tech3 team, and that, along with a somewhat lack of consistency from his part on his current team might have what led him to leave, so Massimo Rivola believes.
Speaking about the reason why Viñales will leave the team at the end of the season, the Aprilia’s Team Principal told SkySport, quoted on Motosan: ‘I think Maverick with us didn’t feel like he could repeat the performance he had in Austin every Sunday. I also think that the challenge of being able to win with four different houses is something unique that he can achieve’.
With the spaniard to be a positive asset of the italian manufacturer, it is with great expectation that Rivola wants the rider to do well until the end of 2024: ‘Viñales has been a winning bet for us, because since we took him from Yamaha we have been able to see him win after so many podiums. I am very satisfied with the work he has done with us, but the season is still long and I hope he is strong now in Assen’.
Viñales is currently sixth in MotoGP world standings with 100 points, while Jorge Martín future rider for Aprilia, leads with 171.
