The MotoE World Championship season has already begun. This morning, the first two practice sessions of the Portuguese GP took place, with Mattia Casadei setting the fastest time.
The first session had wet asphalt, and some riders didn’t even complete timed laps. The fastest was Alessandro Zaccone (Tech3 E-racing), who edged out Lukas Tulovic (Dynavolt Intact GP) by just 0.111s.
The second session had dry track conditions, leading to a natural improvement in lap times. After the first flying laps, Kevin Zannoni (Openbank Aspar) held the lead briefly.
In less than a minute, there were three changes in the lead: Casadei (LCR E-Team), Eric Granado (LCR E-Team), and Nicolas Spinelli (Tech3 E-racing) took turns at the top.
Shortly after, Granado returned to the front, but in the end, it was Casadei who set the pace: he clocked a time of 1m47.389s. Spinelli was the closest competitor, trailing by 0.196s, followed by Zaccone and Granado. Two-time champion Jordi Torres (Openbank Aspar) secured the fifth fastest time.
Héctor Garzó (Dynavolt Intact GP) was the last to secure direct qualification for the second qualifying with the eighth fastest time, beating Tulovic by 0.060s. Among the other riders who will go through Q1, rookies Chaz Davies (Aruba Cloud MotoE) and 2019 champion Matteo Ferrari (Felo Gresini) stand out, with Ferrari finishing last in the session.
