Fire breaks out in McLaren motorhome at the Spanish Grand Prix, causing smoke. Before the start of the third and final free practice session of the Spanish Formula 1 Grand Prix, McLaren had to evacuate their Formula 1 hospitality due to the fire. McLaren staff acted quickly to ensure the safety of everyone inside the hospitality, evacuating them before the fire could spread. The local fire brigade and ambulance team promptly arrived to extinguish the fire. McLaren released a statement confirming the evacuation of their hospitality unit from the Team Hub paddock and stating that the local fire department was handling the situation. Although the hospitality center suffered damage, no McLaren team members were seriously injured and the fire was quickly controlled. However, some members of the fire safety team had to be treated for smoke inhalation and were escorted away from the site by paramedics. According to Formula 1 CEO Stefano Domenicali, the fire originated in the kitchen area of McLaren’s hospitality, but the smoke quickly spread to the upper floor and then to the ground floor, leading to immediate evacuation. Despite the incident, both Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris were able to proceed with their preparations for Free Practice 3 and participated in the session.
