When nothing made it predictable, McLaren became on Tuesday the first team to unveil its colors for the 2024 Formula 1 season. It was a presentation of the chromatic scheme and not of the car, which happened with images released online.
Although the orange “papaya” remains predominant, it is now combined with black, and the differences compared to 2023 are well visible with the disappearance of light blue. In fact, it is a decoration that refers more to the one used in 2017, in the last year of partnership with Honda.
The 2024 McLaren car (MCL38) will be the first developed with Andrea Stella as team principal, but it has not yet had the participation of the new technical directors Rob Marshall (Engineering and Design) and David Sánchez (Car Concept and Performance) – since they only joined this month.
Once again, Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri will be the drivers, after attracting attention last year including achieving several podiums – especially Norris, while Piastri faced his debut season. The goal of the Woking team is, at least, to restart at the same level it ended in 2023, getting closer to the top of the field again.
