Expected four-seater convertible from the star brand can now be ordered in Portugal, starting at € 71,400.
Honoring Mercedes-Benz’s long tradition in producing four-seater convertibles, the star brand’s plans for the new CLE include the launch of a Cabrio variant, which will start arriving in markets at the end of next April, with an electronically controlled textile roof and the same technical and technological features as the CLE Coupe, a model with which it also shares the 2+2 seating configuration, as well as the essential exterior and interior design.
A convertible for all seasons, the CLE Cabrio comes standard with revised and updated versions of the electric air deflector systems, Aircap, and heating, Airscarf, specific for driving with the top down in low ambient temperatures. The first is composed of two elements: the air deflector on the windshield directs the air to pass above the occupants’ heads, activated with the simple press of a button.
The Airscarf, known from other models of the brand, warms the air that circulates around the front occupants’ necks – even in unfavorable wind conditions.
Available with a black, red, or gray roof (opens and closes in 20 seconds up to a vehicle speed of 60 km/h), the CLE Cabrio also introduces an electric partition in the trunk that automatically separates the folded fabric top compartment from the trunk.
In the interior, there is a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel, combined with an 11.9-inch vertical central screen oriented towards the driver, which can be electronically tilted at an angle of 15 to 40 degrees to avoid glare when the canvas roof is open. The third generation of the MBUX information and entertainment system allows the use of entertainment applications such as TikTok or the Zoom video conferencing application.
With a length of 4850 mm and a wheelbase of 2865 millimeters (25 mm more than the C-Class Cabrio), the convertible CLE’s trunk capacity ranges from 385 liters to 295 liters with the roof open. The trunk capacity can be increased by folding down the rear seat backs in a 60:40 split.
In the Cabrio, there is a 15-millimeter lowered comfort suspension for a more sporty behavior, with optional active suspension.
At the start of commercial sales in Portugal, the Mercedes-Benz CLE Cabrio will be available with a diesel engine (CLE 220 d, with 197 hp and 440 Nm) and a gasoline engine (CLE 200, with 204 hp and 320 Nm). All engines have MHEV hybrid technology, with an electric motor (23 hp/200 Nm) and a 48 V electrical system.
