Great qualifying for Miguel Oliveira and Aleix Espargaro at Misano, with the portuguese rider being the main star of the session as he rose to first place early on and with a final lap that assured direct access to Q2, ahead of the Aprilia Racing factory rider.
After the first few fast laps, Fabio Quartararo and Michele Pirro were the standouts, but it was Miguel Oliveira who moved into the lead seconds later.
Pol Espargaro was the first to crash, but without any major consequences.
On his third lap, the portuguese set a time of 1:31.450s, which meant a gap of more than three tenths to second, Quartararo (+0.356s).
This was followed by the usual pit stops by the respective teams to prepare the final attack on the times:
Nothing new happened in the next few minutes, with a second crash for Pol Espargaro two minutes from the end.
It was now or never and Jack Miller, Aleix Espargaro and Johann Zarco were on the attack and could make a substantial improvement and move to the front.
A. Espargaro, after the red sectors, was in first place and had practically secured first place for the session, Oliveira was second and Quartararo, for the moment, third.
The one who seemed to be responding in a big way was Oliveira, who attacked the times and… fastest lap again and first place for Oliveira! In Q2 with A. Espargaro.
