After piloting the 2022 Aprilia RS-GP last year, Miguel Oliveira jumps directly to the 2024 version in the new season. The Trackhouse Racing rider had his first contact with the bike this Tuesday at the start of the Sepang tests.
The Portuguese admitted that the differences are significant, requiring readjustment: ‘It’s hard to say how big is the gap. For sure it feels a lot different for me. Once you add so much downforce that this bike has, the engine is slightly different – a little bit more powerful. Just everything works different, the feedback is different, so you need to readjust everything’.
Oliveira mentioned that, for now, he hasn’t changed much in the bike’s settings, a work that will need to start being done: ‘I just put my normal setting, rode the bike, and you clearly see it’s not there yet. So I need to start working a bit more, and analyzing. But before we touch everything we really want to make sure and get the problems a little bit separate and try to come with effective solutions’.
