It’s with some caution that Miguel Oliveira is preparing to take on the Japanese Grand Prix, on a track that has historically caused Aprilia some problems and that doesn’t get the portuguese rider too excited. The goal is therefore more modest, with the CryptoDATA RNF MotoGP rider aiming for the top ten.
On japanese soil, Oliveira was asked what he expects from the weekend at Motegi, and the #88’s response wasn’t the most encouraging, albeit honest: ‘Expectations aren’t very high, I have to say. We know it’s a difficult track for Aprilia. Last year’s performance wasn’t fantastic but, of course, we’ll try to maximise our strengths and minimise where we’ll lose the most: during braking points and acceleration but, apart from that, it’ll be a weekend of normal approach’.
As such, the objectives in terms of race positions are equally moderate: ‘I’d love to say a top ten, that would be a good result and anything above that would be a bonus for sure’.
Miguel Oliveira is 13th in the championship with 69 points.
