Aston Martin introduced a significant update to its Formula 1 car for the United States Grand Prix. However, the on-track results did not reflect in a round where there was limited work time with only one free practice session – negatively affecting the performance in Austin.
A learning situation, with team boss Mike Krack ensuring, as quoted by RacingNews365.com, that there will be no more updates in rounds with sprint races: ‘The fact is that on Friday we should have done our homework. We didn’t do it and we had the consequences throughout the whole weekend. Now there’s always a rule: don’t bring updates for a sprint weekend’.
The responsible person added: ‘Nevertheless, when you make the decision to do it, you know what the risks are, and then you can’t complain when it happens. But it’s another lesson learned’.
