Can you be a fan of Taylor Swift and the San Francisco 49ers? Not this week.
The Japanese Embassy has already confirmed the world’s biggest pop star will make it to Las Vegas in time to watch her boyfriend’s Kansas City Chiefs play in Super Bowl LVIII. And while her presence may have no bearing on the game itself, 49ers fans see T-Swift as the enemy — at least for now.
Take Lisa McCaffrey, for example. The mom of San Francisco’s star running back Christian McCaffrey is a self-proclaimed Swiftie. But until the Super Bowl is over, she’s boycotting all of T-Swift’s music. And Christian’s fiancée, Olivia Culpo, is doing the same.
“I refuse to listen to Taylor Swift songs for the next couple of days. I love her, I love the relationship, but we are boycotting any T. Swift songs,” Lisa declared on her podcast, Your Mom. “If she pops up on the radio station… nope. She’s dead to us this week.”
Lisa admits the boycott will be tough, “because I have her on my running playlist and everything.”
Colin Cowherd must be seething right now. After all, he was certain the only people who have a problem with Taylor Swift are insecure men who can’t convince any women to have sex with them.
Colin Cowherd uncorked a truly bizarre rant about Taylor Swift and lonely men. Watch a video of his full comments.
Still, Lisa’s T-Swift boycott might be a smart move. It worked for Philly radio station Q102 during the regular season. In the week leading up to the Nov. 20 match-up between the Chiefs and Eagles, Q102 banned all Swift songs from the airwaves.
“This weekend we gotta focus, so we’ve been forced to punt Taylor Swift from the playlist,” show host Buster said.
The Eagles won that game, 21-17.
Surely Mrs. McCaffrey (and the future Mrs. McCaffrey) are hoping for a similar outcome. And now that Olivia bought Lisa a fancy, luxury suite, maybe they’ll even get to meet Taylor face-to-face after the game. No hard feelings, of course.
