After the forced break of the last few weeks, the MotoGP World Championships return this weekend with the Dutch GP. The »Cathedral» of Assen hosts the eighth round of the season (fifth for MotoE).
In MotoGP, Jorge Martín (Prima Pramac/Ducati) leads and faces his first GP since being announced by Aprilia for 2025. The Spaniard has 171 points, 18 more than Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati), while Marc Márquez (Gresini/Ducati) is third, 36 points from the top.
Enea Bastianini (Ducati) and Pedro Acosta (Red Bull GasGas Tech3/KTM) currently round out the top five ahead of Maverick Viñales. Like Martín, Márquez, Bastianini, Jack Miller (Red Bull KTM), and Augusto Fernández (Red Bull GasGas Tech3/KTM), Viñales learned during this break that his future lies with another team in 2025.
Sergio García (MT Helmets-MSi/Boscoscuro) leads in Moto2 with seven points more than Joe Roberts (OnlyFans American Racing Team/Kalex) – who achieved his first victory in the previous round in Italy. Ai Ogura (MT Helmets-MSi/Boscoscuro) is third, 23 points from the top. Mathematically, no one else can surpass García in Assen.
In Moto3, David Alonso (CFMoto Aspar) is in strong form, coming off three consecutive victories that leave him leading the championship with 37 points more than Daniel Holgado (Red Bull KTM Tech3). Collin Veijer (Liqui Moly Husqvarna Intact GP), in third place, is 48 points behind.
Assen will also host the fifth round of MotoE, entering the second half of the season. The electric motorcycle championship is led by Mattia Casadei (LCR E-Team), with just six points more than Kevin Zannoni (Openbank Aspar). Oscar Gutiérrez (Axxis-MSi) is third, 35 points behind. With 50 points in play, Nicholas Spinelli (Tech3 E-Racing) and Héctor Garzó (Dynavolt Intact GP) also have mathematical chances of leaving Assen as the leader.
There will be no shortage of interest for the Dutch GP in any of the categories. Check all the schedules (CET) below.
