Saleen S1, the mid-engine sports car that never saw the light of day, is for sale on eBay, with just over 1000 kilometers on the clock!
Saleen may not be a familiar name to those who do not follow motorsports, but the American company, specialized in the production and preparation of supercars, sought greater visibility after being acquired by the Chinese group Jiangsu Secco Automobile Technology in 2017. They launched a new range of road models, starting with the spectacular S7. One of these cars was called the S1, based on the Fisker Artega GT, with a mid-engine layout and a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine producing about 450 horsepower, sent to the rear wheels through a six-speed manual gearbox.
More than five years after its presentation, the Saleen S1 never saw the light of day as a production car, but the only revealed prototype is still operational and belongs to one of the company’s shareholders, who has just put it up for sale on eBay. And for a strangely low reserve price: $75,300, around €68,134, which no one has yet been willing to pay for this “one-off”!
The sports car has only covered 1610 kilometers in recordings for some promotional videos, including those in which it was driven by the well-known actor Jason Statham.
