This new “Personal Pilot L3” feature allows the person behind the wheel to be relieved of the task of driving the vehicle in certain situations, controlling the car’s speed, distance to the vehicle in front, and lane positioning.
The new option, which will be exclusively available in Germany from March 2024 as an optional feature for the new Series 7, excluding the i7 eDrive50 and i7 M70 xDrive variants, has a price of €6,000.
BMW has revealed that with this technology, the driver will be able to redirect their attention to other activities while traveling at speeds up to 60 km/h on highways with structurally separated lanes. Additionally, the Munich-based brand has also revealed that thanks to a set of sophisticated sensors, the system can be used at night.
It should be noted that BMW’s “Highway Assistant” system already offers a highly innovative Level 2 partially automated driving function in all new BMW Series 5 models.
