One of the major innovations of the 2025 Ducati Panigale V4 is the Race eCBS system. This is the first sports motorcycle equipped with the Race eCBS braking system, designed to deliver sensations similar to those experienced by professional riders.
Developed by Bosch in collaboration with Ducati, the Race eCBS is a combined braking system with Cornering functionality. When the rider engages the rear brake control, the system autonomously applies braking pressure to the rear according to pre-defined strategies. This intervention mimics the actions of professional riders in track settings, while prioritizing safety and stability for road use.
The Race eCBS system features seven different levels (the first five for track use), each offering varying ABS intervention modes and levels of rear brake contribution. The system can apply up to 15.5% braking force to the rear.
- Level 1: Designed to assist the rider (amateur or professional) in achieving maximum performance. The ABS level is minimal, with combined braking operating according to the Track Plus strategy. Most of the pressure is applied to the rear brake, activating the «post run» function. The intervention continues until the apex of the turn, replicating the professional maneuver to close the trajectory. With this system, the rear brake contributes even in right-hand turns, where foot control is more challenging.
- Level 3: This level focuses on smoothness in the center of the turns, using a less aggressive riding style. ABS intervention while braking with the bike upright is greater, and the combined braking strategy is Track. The «post run» function is deactivated, and less pressure is applied to the rear brake.
- Levels 2 and 4: These levels apply the same strategies as Levels 1 and 3, but without combined braking. They are intended for experienced riders who want to maintain full control of the rear brake.
- Level 5: This level features the «slide by brake» activation, assisting in sliding maneuver while entering the turn.
- Levels 6 and 7: Level 6 is for dry roads, while Level 7 is for wet or slippery conditions. The Race eCBS system intervenes to achieve more stable deceleration, with curve logic and more intense rear wheel lift control.
