The final corner of the Ducati’s Lenovo Race of Champions, held this afternoon in Misano, was marked by an incident involving Marc Márquez and Nicolò Bulega. The Spanish rider overtook the Italian, and it seems there was contact, which caused the Italian to lose control of his bike and fall heavily.
According to GPOne.com, the Aruba.it Ducati rider from the World Superbike Championship was taken to the medical center, where X-rays and an MRI were conducted. The exams ruled out any fractures, although Bulega is experiencing shoulder pain.
As a result of the incident, the second-place finisher in WSBK had to leave early and did not participate in the remainder of the World Ducati Week. The championship resumes from August 9 to 11 in Portimão.
The race, which was friendly and for show, was won by Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati Lenovo Team, MotoGP), with Andrea Iannone (Team GoEleven, WSBK) in second place. Márquez (Gresini, MotoGP) finished third, the position he was fighting for with Bulega when the crash occurred. The event featured 15 Ducati riders from MotoGP, WSBK, and the British Superbike Championship (BSB), all riding the Panigale V4 in the new version released this week.
