The rumors had been circulating for about two months, and now it’s official: Aspar becomes the official team of CFMoto in the Moto2 and Moto3 World Championships as CFMoto Aspar Racing Team. The Spanish team was with GasGas in recent seasons and now moves to another brand in the Pierer Mobility group – after the Chinese manufacturer parted ways with PrüstelGP.
In Moto2, the team will feature Izan Guevara and Jake Dixon, while in Moto3, it will have David Alonso and rookie Joel Esteban. The goal in both categories is to fight for the title, as made clear by executive director Jorge Martínez Aspar:
– In 2024, we want to fight for the title in Moto3 and Moto2, and doing it with CFMoto is an extra incentive. We are very happy to have their support and will strive to make them proud and offer them many wins this season.
From the CFMotoGP side, Racing Development manager Su Zhen commented: ‘The collaboration with Aspar will decisively help CFMoto Racing to reach another level; we believe that more victories and podiums will come with this legendary team. The 2024 season is just the beginning, with the Aspar Team, we will seek more cooperation opportunities beyond the paddock’.
In Moto2, the CFMoto Aspar will compete with Kalex, while in Moto3, the bikes will bear the name of the Chinese manufacturer but, in practice, are KTM. As for the GasGas brand, although there is still no confirmation, it is expected to form an alliance with Tech3 also in Moto3.
