Pablo Quintanilla was the winner of the fifth stage of Dakar 2024, held this Wednesday with just 118km against the clock. Ross Branch is once again the leader in the overall classification.
Throughout the course, Quintanilla (Monster Energy Honda) consistently set the pace, beating his teammate Adrien van Beveren by 37 seconds. Toby Price (Red Bull KTM) came in third, 1m39s behind, followed by Daniel Sanders (Red Bull GasGas) and Mason Klein (Korr Offroad Racing/Kove). Branch (Hero MotoSports) clocked the sixth time. After winning yesterday, José Ignacio Cornejo (Monster Energy Honda) opened the stage but finished only in 14th place.
The time lost by the Chilean cost him the lead, which is now back in Branch’s possession with a 1m14s advantage. Brabec remains in third, now just 3m47s from the top, with van Beveren and Benavides closing the top five. Quintanilla is sixth after Wednesday’s win.
