After stating that Aprilia Racing’s results fell short of expectations in 2023, Paolo Bonora confessed the team was a bit off, saying that the manufacturer must provide riders with the confidence they need to be at the top of their game. He also praised Aleix Espargaro.
The Noale manufacturer’s Team Manager explained to the championship’s official website that the team didn’t prepare the RS-GP in the best way, without forgetting that this also influenced the riders’ confidence: ‘In the second part of the season we didn’t prepare the bike for the new conditions we found. We’re happy with the riders, but we have to be much faster and more consistent to give them the confidence they need’.
The italian then focussed on the team’s «Captain» and main asset in recent years, Aleix Espargaro: ‘He’s had an excellent first part of the season. His race in Barcelona was impressive, that’s for sure, and Maverick’s too. At Silverstone we also got another incredible win’.
Sixth and seventh at the end of the season, A. Espargaro and Viñales were separated by just two points.
