Despite the good indications given so far in the Shakedown and Test at Sepang, Pedro Acosta doesn’t take anything for granted and now, heading to Qatar, he has no real expectations, just wanting to focus on preparing the race weekend, the first as a full fledged MotoGP rider, now competing officially.
Before the action gets going, the Red Bull GASGAS Tech3 rider recalled how tired we was at Malaysia, and preview his work for what is to come in these two next days tests: ‘I’m happy to change the track to be honest after six days riding in Malaysia, was quite boring. I remember the last night we spend there, before the last day, I said: «Shit! I want to be back home now». Anyways I am happy to be back and having many things to test for the first race of the season. We will try to be calm: it’s a new track, only two days and this will be the first test where we can see how fast we can go and manage ourselves, and see also how we can be fast and adapt to a new track but I think it will all be good’.
If having these two days of tests in the same track before actually starting the MotoGP campaign, the rookie said: ‘It won’t be easy. Having two days plus the three of the GP will be quite nice. The important thing for this test is that we are going to see is how fast we can adapt to a certain and new situation. On the Shakedown we were fast but now it’s only two days, a real GP simulation let’s say’.
Ready to make his real first race simulation, the spaniard has no expectations for what is about to happen: ‘The plan is to make, at the end, a strong base. We have some things to try, I don’t know what to be honest, and we will also make a race simulation in the second day. I didn’t made a whole simulation with 20 laps, no, a full race I haven’t. Let’s see how it goes, with the sun, the wind that is quite strong at the moment… Here we have to start from zero, he have no expectations’.
