Piaggio, founded in 1884, is 140 years old and the Vespa is celebrating this anniversary with a special edition, the most exclusive ever in the history of the world’s most famous and beloved scooter.
The Piaggio Style Center has created a model that collectors already have their eye on, because it will be manufactured in a limited number of up to 140 units and will only be available for four days, the same as the Vespa World Days 2024 rally which, from April 18 to 21, brings together thousands of Vespisti, as well as national Vespa Clubs from 66 countries. In fact, on the days of the big celebration, Piaggio’s Vespa 140th can be ordered online(VESPA.COM) or in person at the Vespa Village, the heart of the Vespa World Days 2024 which will take place in Pontedera.
An unrepeatable opportunity for collectors from all over the world to take home a version that promises to be one of the rarest, most sought-after and valuable.
In the Piaggio Vespa 140th, created on the basis of the Vespa Gtv, respect for the most classic and evocative forms of Vespa history is achieved thanks to an extraordinary combination of history and modernity, where the low headlight and exposed tubular handlebars are combined with sporty finishes and a high-tech equipment package.
The special version is characterized by blue and light blue on white bodywork, the institutional colors of the Piaggio Group, which interact with the classic graphics and the new Vespa monogram, as well as the 140th anniversary logo. These colors also highlight the classic tie on the front shield, the hallmark of every Vespa, designed with triple air intakes on both sides and central grilles. The front fairing also recalls the racing spirit that inspires the Gtv.
The seat is blue, with tone-on-tone double stitching and, in contrast, is characterized by the unmistakable single-seater look, with a wide, comfortable seat. The rear seat cover is standard, another reference to Vespa’s sporty and elegant soul.
The wheels, blue with light blue inserts, are also dedicated to this model. The aesthetics of Piaggio’s new Vespa 140th are completed by the black finishes on the fairing profiles, rear-view mirrors, muffler and folding passenger footrests.
Each unit will be identified by a numbered commemorative plate located on the rear shield, also highlighted with the 140th anniversary logo.
Piaggio’s new Vespa 140th is equipped with the 300 hpe (High Performance Engine) single-cylinder, with 4 valves, liquid cooling and electronic injection. With a power output of 17.5 kW (23.8 hp), it is the highest performance engine ever fitted to a Vespa. The light clusters are entirely LED, including the characteristic low beam, while the instrumentation retains its elegant circular shape, but is now completely digital, a solution that allows you to take advantage of the features provided by the Vespa MIA connectivity system, available as an accessory.
Convenience and practicality are enhanced by the introduction of the keyless system, which allows the ignition to be switched on without the need for a traditional key. In terms of safety, it comes standard with ASR electronic traction control and ABS anti-lock braking system.
Piaggio’s Vespa 140th can be equipped with a range of stylish accessories, including a large rear bag in high-quality leather with the Vespa logo embossed on it and a smooth leather reinforcement on the underside and handles that allows for easy and secure attachment to the rear luggage rack. Some of the accessories that increase the Vespa’s riding comfort and functionality include front and rear luggage racks, a large methacrylate windshield and crash bars.
