Pierre Gasly made his first Formula 1 season this year as a factory driver with Alpine. The car did not have the desired competitiveness or consistency, with the driver finishing 11th in the championship and the proposed collective goals not being achieved – improving the 2022 result in the Constructors’ World Championship.
The Frenchman admitted, quoted on RacingNews365.com, that it was a season with some disappointment, but also reasons for satisfaction: ‘I have to admit that it is difficult to say that you are satisfied with the season you had when you didn’t score that many points. I think it was objectively slightly disappointing in terms of the overall performance we showed, but personally I am definitely happy with the step I took’.
After several years in the Red Bull sphere, Gasly “changed the air” and embarked on a new chapter in his career, considering that he made progress throughout 2023 and works well with Alpine: ‘I entered a new team, there was a lot to learn, a lot to get used to. And I felt that I was able to come in and perform, trying to extract everything from the car, weekend after weekend. Obviously, I wished we were fighting for better positions. But overall, I feel like we are working well with the team. We just need a better package and better speed for next year’.
