The Polestar presented the “Truth Bot”, a Bot created on “X” (formerly Twitter) to help clarify the most common inaccuracies related to climate change within the automotive industry.
The Swedish brand justifies this initiative due to the misinformation on social media regarding the environment, after several scientists have warned about the increase in “climate denial bots”. In addition, Polestar reminds that the United Nations has already warned that misinformation is “hindering the taking of urgent measures to ensure a habitable future for the planet” and a report from Climate Action Against Disinformation reveals that “X” ranks lowest among the top five social media platforms in terms of actions to limit the spread of misinformation.
“The incorrect and deliberate use of climate data is incredibly harmful. Especially now, in this period leading up to the United Nations Conference on Climate Change (COP28), where real facts and fiction are being confused,” highlighted Fredrika Klarén, Head of Sustainability at Polestar.
“We believe that doing the opposite – a true use of scientific data – can work as a powerful tool to help guide climate action. We encourage you to join us in spreading this idea on social platforms.”
Online from November 23 to 30, in the period leading up to COP28, which will take place in Dubai from November 30 to December 12, the Polestar “Truth Bot” will respond to climate myths on “X” using factual data.
