In the second year of the program, Porsche Penske Motorsport aims to once again have three cars starting in this year’s 24 Hours of Le Mans. The race, which is part of the World Endurance Championship (WEC), will take place on June 15th and 16th.
In 2023, the official team of the German manufacturer already had three 963s in the legendary race. Jonathan Diuguid, director of Porsche Penske Motorsport, confirmed to Motorsport.com that the goal is to repeat it, but nothing is guaranteed:
“We are striving for it. We had three cars in 2023 and the results were not what we wanted them to be, but we saw the benefits of having three cars together on the track, so that’s our goal. We applied for three cars and we’ll see how it goes. I would be ecstatic if we were given another spot, but it’s not in our hands.”
Last year, Porsche Penske Motorsport had their best car finish in 16th place overall (ninth among the Hypercars), with one car finishing in 22nd place and another not completing the race.
