Prima Pramac Racing has opted not to continue as a partner with Ducati in MotoGP, instead accepting a seven-year deal with Yamaha to become its second factory team starting in 2025.
Enea Bastianini and his chief mechanic, Alberto Giribuola, are also departing from Ducati’s sphere to join the Red Bull KTM Tech3 team next season. However, their destination could have been different.
According to GPOne.com, Paolo Campinoti attempted to «divert» the two Italians from Hervé Poncharal’s team, even considering paying the contractual penalties after they had already signed with KTM Tech3.
While there were negotiations between Bastianini and Yamaha, this potentially revolutionary move in the rider market did not materialize. As for Pramac, they remain in the market for riders.
Although no riders have been confirmed yet, there is speculation that Miguel Oliveira is a strong candidate. Jack Miller has also been rumored to return to Pramac, where he raced from 2018 to 2020.
