The penalty for aerodynamic testing to Red Bull due to the Formula 1 budget cap violation in 2021 has expired. This took away an additional ten percent of aerodynamic testing time from the Milton Keynes team – which was also fined seven million dollars.
Throughout 2023, the admonishment does not appear to have had a significant effect on the development of the car, which especially with Max Verstappen dominated the season. As Red Bull was penalized on October 26th of last year for one year, the period of restrictions has now come to an end.
This allows the Austrian team to once again use all the time normally authorized for aerodynamic testing – which was also naturally restricted by the sporting results as stipulated in the regulations. This may still be helpful for the development of the 2024 car for the start of the season.
