QJ Motor, we’ve heard a lot about this Chinese manufacturer, but in case the name isn’t familiar to anyone, here’s a little background.
Founded in 1985, Qianjiang Motorcycle is a large Chinese company that owns QJ Motor, located about 480 km from Shanghai. With a workforce of 14,000 people, the company stands out as a colossus in the sector, producing more than 1,200,000 (stratospheric figures) two-wheeled vehicles and more than 2 million engines every year. The factory covers an area of 670,000 square meters and is equipped with sophisticated CNC machines for precision machining. Components imported from Germany, Italy and the USA are used in assembly, which gives the products a good standard of quality. Qianjiang Motorcycle is an integral part of the Geely Group.
The 2024 range
The manufacturer is ready to face 2024 with a complete product range of no less than 22 models. Starting with the 125 cc vehicles, suitable for drivers with A1 and B licenses, up to the 800 cc vehicles, also designed for adventure use. The offer is extensive: Enduro, naked, supersport, custom and scooter, thus responding to the needs of a large segment of the market.
QJ Motor has in its DNA the commitment to produce motorcycles with a high technological and qualitative content: for this reason, each QJ Motor product is designed with maximum possible efficiency, rider safety, refined design and simplicity in daily use in mind. The company states that its goal for 2024 is to offer a new riding experience for motorcycle enthusiasts of all ages, starting with the young “Independent” and ending with the long-term “Mature” rider.
Enduro/Touring
QJ Motor offers a wide range of products, including medium- and high-performance models.
The QJ Motor SRT 800 and SRT 800 X are two versions that differ mainly in the size of the front wheel, 19 inches for the SRT 800 X and 17 inches for the SRT 800, from this feature we can see the different behavior of the two bikes. Equipped with an inverted telescopic fork and a Brembo brake system, the two 800s offer a good ride feel.
The engine is a 754 cc in-line twin-cylinder capable of producing 76 horsepower (56 kW) at 9,000 rpm and 67 Nm of maximum torque at 6,500 rpm. Apart from ABS, there are no driving aids, but there’s no need to use them.
QJ Motor’s Enduro/Touring range doesn’t end with the 800, for 2024 we have the SRT 700 in the catalog, which we also find in an X version. In 2021, we talked about it when the SRT 700 was presented in China. The two-cylinder delivers 75 hp, just two less than its 750 cousin, which already equips the QJ Motor 750 in China.
It’s been two years since the QJMotor SVT 650X was presented at EICMA 2022, which is characterized by a personal and certainly recognizable appearance.
In technical terms, the Chinese adventure bike is distinguished by a new 645 cc twin-cylinder engine with four valves per cylinder. This power unit is capable of delivering 76 horsepower at 9000 rpm and 65 Nm of torque at 8000 rpm. This represents a significant step up from the norm, considering that most competitors, including QJ’s other enduro/crossover bikes, are based on two-cylinder engines.
Naked
QJ Motor’s naked range consists of no less than five models, from the small 125 to the medium-sized 700.
The SRK 700’s engine is a four-stroke in-line twin cylinder with a displacement of 698 cc and Euro5 approval. It is capable of developing a maximum power of 73.4 hp (54 kW) and a maximum torque of 67 Nm. Thanks to this power, the SRK 700 can reach speeds of up to 180 km/h, according to data provided by QJ Motor. As far as the frame is concerned, we find a strong steel and alloy trellis frame, to which is added an inverted fork and a shock absorber with adjustable preload. The scales stop at 196 kg, including the 15-liter fuel tank.
QJ Motor has also thought of drivers with A2 licenses. The SRK 400 is the proposal for those approaching the world of two wheels for the first time or for those who want a simple, undemanding motorcycle.
On the naked 400, attention is immediately drawn to the short rear end and high seat, elements that lead the eye to the large fuel tank and particularly low headlight. The trellis frame and aggressive lines are the distinctive elements that, even before climbing onto the seat, reveal the intentions of QJ Motor’s engineers: to create a naked sports bike that combines safety and fun, proving effective both in city traffic and on non-city routes. The engine develops 45 hp (33 kW) at 9,500 rpm and 37 Nm of torque at 7,000 rpm.
QJ Motor’s range is completed by the SRK 550, SRV 550 and SRK 125 S
Custom
In QJ Motor’s extensive range, the company has also found a place for custom motorcycles: the SRV. For this category of bikes, the company offers three engines: 125, 300 and 600.
We tested the SRV 300 and liked its simplicity. With a tank, “low-rider” lines and clear references to the iconic American two-cylinder motorcycles that made history, the SRV series is designed for enthusiasts of relaxed riding. This range is designed for those looking for a comfortable and versatile motorcycle with personality. The SRV 300 is equipped with a 296 cc Euro 5 twin-cylinder engine that delivers 37 HP (22.6 kW) of power at 9,000 rpm and 26 Nm of maximum torque at 7,000 rpm.
The customized range is completed by its younger sister, the SRV 125, and its older sister, the SRV 600 V.
Supersport
There are three Supersports in the catalog: SRK 800 RR, SRK 550 RS and SRK 125 R.
The SRK 800 RR surprised the market with its engine architecture: the in-line four-cylinder. The new Chinese 800 developed a maximum power of 102 hp, we imagine at the top of the rev counter. The weight, in running order, should be around 207 kg and the bike, on paper, reaches 220 km/h. The wheels are fitted with 120/70 tires at the front and 180/55 at the rear.
Both the frame and the engine of the SRK 800 RR appear to have been developed on the basis of the Honda CBR 650 R. According to rumors from China, although the diameter has remained unchanged at 67 millimeters each, it seems that the piston stroke has been increased by almost 10 millimeters per piston.
Rounding off the Supersport range and QJ Motor’s entire offering (no less than 22 bikes) are the SRK 550 RS and the small SRK 125 R.
