Ducati has dominated MotoGP in recent years, particularly in 2023, where they nearly swept victories among both factory and satellite teams. Raúl Fernández, who rides for Trackhouse Racing on an Aprilia this year, discussed what distinguishes the Borgo Panigale manufacturer and what it takes to challenge them.
The Spaniard shared on Adriiianef’s Twitch channel: ‘I think the issue we have, or what I see nowadays in MotoGP, is that what Ducati achieved was to create a consistently performing bike on all circuits. I believe it’s a very competitive bike. That’s what other manufacturers need to work on. Our bike is very good, but depending on the circuit, we struggle a lot, like in Barcelona, where the Aprilia seemed almost unbeatable on that track’.
According to Fernández, there’s a need for progress and consistency at Aprilia: ‘Throughout these years, we have to focus on making a consistently performing bike overall. I think that’s what can lead to fighting for a championship. I believe Aprilia also needs to take a step forward; overall, the other manufacturers are a small step behind Ducati. So, we’re working to get there’.
