Baltimore Ravens’ Defense Dominates NFL, Defensive Coordinator Leaves for Seattle
In a stunning turn of events, the Baltimore Ravens, known for their formidable defense, have been left in the lurch as defensive coordinator Mike Macdonald departs to become the head coach of the Seattle Seahawks. Macdonald, who played a pivotal role in the Ravens’ success this past season, has already taken one assistant with him to Seattle. Now, it seems another assistant, Anthony Weaver, may be on his way out as well.
According to sources, Weaver, the current Ravens defensive line coach, is the frontrunner to land the defensive coordinator position with the Miami Dolphins. The Dolphins are in dire need of defensive help after a disappointing end to their previous season. Weaver’s impressive track record, particularly with the Ravens’ defensive line, has caught the attention of the Dolphins’ management.
Weaver, a former NFL player himself, has spent the past three years on John Harbaugh’s coaching staff. Prior to that, he served as an assistant coach for the Houston Texans, Cleveland Browns, Buffalo Bills, and New York Jets. His extensive experience and expertise make him an ideal candidate for the Dolphins.
If Weaver does make the move to Miami, it could potentially have a ripple effect on the team’s future. The Dolphins may be able to attract high-caliber free agents, such as Pro Bowl defensive tackle Justin Madubuike, who could bolster their defense in the upcoming season. However, there is also the possibility that Weaver could be a one-and-done assistant coach, as he has previously interviewed for head coaching positions with the Washington Commanders and Atlanta Falcons.
Nevertheless, the Dolphins are in urgent need of a defensive coordinator, and Weaver appears to be the best option available. As the team looks to rebuild and strengthen their defense for the 2024 season, securing Weaver’s services would be a significant step in the right direction.
