Renowned Formula 1 designer, Adrian Newey, will step down from his role as Chief Technical Officer of Red Bull at the beginning of 2025, according to a team press release. Newey, who is 65 years old, has had a distinguished career in F1, working with Williams, McLaren, and Red Bull since 2006 and winning 25 championships. He was responsible for designing all seven championship-winning cars for Red Bull, including last season’s RB19 car. Red Bull confirmed that Newey will gradually reduce his involvement with the team throughout this season and will officially depart in the first quarter of 2025. However, he will continue to work on the development of the RB17 Hypercar until its completion, which is scheduled to be revealed in July.
Newey expressed that he believes now is the right time to step away from his role after nearly two decades of designing cars that have achieved 118 wins and 272 podiums. He stated: “Ever since I was a boy, I wanted to be a designer of fast cars. My dream was to be an engineer in F1, and I was fortunate enough to make that dream a reality. For almost two decades, it has been a great honor to play a significant role in Red Bull Racing’s journey from a new and unknown team to a multiple championship-winning team. However, I feel that now is the perfect time to pass the baton to others and seek new challenges for myself. Meanwhile, the final stages of development for the RB17 are underway, so my focus will be on that for the remainder of my time with the team.”
Christian Horner, the Team Principal of Red Bull, praised Newey’s contributions to the team’s success and described him as a visionary and brilliant designer. He said: “All of our best moments in the last 20 years have been thanks to Adrian’s technical expertise. His vision and genius have led us to 13 titles in 20 seasons. His exceptional ability to think beyond F1 and draw inspiration from various sources in the design of grand prix cars, his remarkable talent to adapt to changes and find the most fruitful areas to focus on within the regulations, and his unwavering determination to win, all of this has contributed to making Red Bull Racing a force to be reckoned with, beyond what the late Dietrich Mateschitz could have imagined. Furthermore, the past 19 years with Adrian have been incredibly enjoyable. When he joined Red Bull, he was already a superstar designer. Now, after two decades and 13 championships, he leaves as a true legend. He is not just a colleague, but also a friend, and I will be forever grateful for everything he has brought to our partnership. His legacy will resonate through the halls of Milton Keynes, and the RB17 race car will be a fitting testament to his time with us.”
There have been rumors linking Newey to Ferrari, especially with the ongoing changes in the team’s leadership. However, Horner revealed that they managed to convince Newey to stay in 2014 during a last-minute discussion. Newey has already expressed regret for not having had the opportunity to work with Lewis Hamilton, but with Hamilton’s move to Ferrari at the end of this season, it is still unclear whether Newey will consider a move to the Italian team. Aston Martin has also been mentioned as a possible destination for Newey, with reports suggesting that Lawrence Stroll has made a tempting offer. It is not clear how Newey’s departure will affect Red Bull, and there are ongoing speculations about the future of Max Verstappen in the team, despite his current contract running until 2028. Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff has actively pursued Verstappen as his main target.

Flying car is launched and promises to revolutionize transportation
A new means of transportation promises to revolutionize the way we travel. The flying car, developed by XYZ company, was launched this week and is already causing a stir. With the ability to fly at impressive altitudes, the vehicle promises to be a solution for the congested traffic in big cities.
The flying car is equipped with cutting-edge technology and has a futuristic design. With its ability to take off and land vertically, the vehicle can be used in urban areas without the need for a landing strip. This means that passengers can reach their destination quickly and efficiently, avoiding traffic jams and congestion.
Furthermore, the flying car is fully electric, which makes it a sustainable option for transportation. With its long-lasting battery, the vehicle can fly for hours without the need for recharging. This is especially important for those living in large cities, where air pollution is a serious problem.
The launch of the flying car has been met with enthusiasm from the public. Many are eager to experience this new form of transportation and are optimistic about its potential to transform the way we travel. However, there are also those who have concerns about the safety and regulation of this type of vehicle.
Despite the uncertainties, it is undeniable that the flying car represents a significant technological advance. Its potential to improve urban mobility and reduce air pollution is promising. Now we must wait to see how this new technology will be adopted and what impact it will have on our society.
