Aprilia will have three bikes with the current specification in MotoGP from the beginning of the season. Two of them are for the factory team riders, Aleix Espargaró and Maverick Viñales, and the other one is for Miguel Oliveira from Trackhouse Racing – his teammate Raúl Fernández will start the year with last season’s version.
Asked if this year’s RS-GP will be all identical, the Almada-born rider replied: ‘Good question, I think so. Raúl will obviously be a bit different, but let’s say the main bike will be equal’.
Oliveira then explained why the specifications will be similar: ‘At the moment it’s hard to arrive and put a aero package without working on the bike that it’s all of the sudden better. I think is very hard to achieve that, so I think right now probably the 2023 is a more balanced bike, but I think the 2024 has a bit an unexplored potential. We don’t know what the bike can actually do, so we just have to go there and find out’.
