Felix Rosenqvist dominated the NTT IndyCar Series open practice session in St. Petersburg, Florida. Driving for Meyer Shank Racing, Rosenqvist quickly showcased his skills in his new car by setting the fastest time of the session. He completed the 1.8-mile course in 1 minute and 0.339 seconds, leaving his competitors almost half a second behind. Pato O’Ward finished in second place, closely followed by Marcus Armstrong. Will Power and Rinus VeeKay rounded out the top five, representing five different teams. Despite changes in car performance, the times were slightly faster than last year’s practice session. The introduction of a new training format divided the field into two groups, allowing drivers to find a clean track and make faster laps. Although there were some red flags due to drivers going off track, no serious accidents occurred. Drivers and teams will analyze today’s data and return to the track on Saturday morning for the second practice session of the weekend.
